HTC One E8

HTC One E8
The HTC One E8 is proof that you can cut costs without cut quality. Although it trades luxurious aluminum for pedestrian plastic, the E8 is neither cheap nor watered down. The main features that make one a good smartphone M8 remain, such as the brilliant 5-inch LCD and fast Snapdragon processor 801, but the price has been cut in half to $ 99.99 on a two-year contract. Think of it as an M8 with a permanent case and another camera is not necessarily better or worse, depending on your priorities. The E8 is entitled to exemption Choice Editors' bestowed on his metal-clad counterpart anyway.

Design and Features
Although slightly less dense and lighter (5.76 by 2.78 by 0.39 inches (HWD) and 5.11 ounces), the E8 is unmistakable in his One-ness, from BoomSound-bearing façade with its gently curved back. The green, metal casing is replaced by a solid, soft-touch plastic material. Lines and feel remind me of the original Motorola Moto X and HTC One X, which is a good thing. You lose visceral Wow factor of the M8, but the E8 feel more comfortable and secure in the hand, not as smooth brushed metal finish on the M8. The IR emitter is lost, though, and the power button is centered on the top edge, rather than offset to the right. Simplifies the new position it more difficult to hit the taller-than-average phone, but thankfully the same Motion Launch the sample retained, allowing you

The display, processor, and cellular radios all identical between the E8 and M8. For all intent and purposes, your daily experiences with either would be largely indistinguishable. Performance is blazing fast, the display is crisp and bright, and the call quality is generally strong. Although both phones use the same speaker hardware, I did notice a slight difference in sound signature between the E8 and M8; to test somewhere, the former sounds more dynamic and clear, making the M8 sounds a little hollow by comparison.

One key difference between the M8 and E8 has a built-in storage, the former has 32GB standard, while the E8 makes for 16GB. Of that, only 10.08GB is available out of the box. It was not terrible, but there are modern games and other demanding apps over 1GB storage, not perfect. Our 64GB microSD card worked fine for expansion of storage, but you can easily install apps on the SD card. Sprint adds a boatload of apps, including the useless ones like eBay and Nascar Mobile 2015 The good news is that most of them are simple to install Google Play shortcuts and easily be removed. Sprint Zone and its incessant calls for the update, however, is not possible.

With a battery rundown test, where we streamed a video on YouTube over LTE in the screen brightness set to maximum, the E8 take a respectable 4 hours, 58 minutes. That is better than the iPhone 4 to 6 hours, 33 minutes, but short of class-leading 7 hours S5 Galaxy's.
