Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

Sony Xperia Z3 CompactThe Sony Xperia Z3 Compact ($ 529.99) is one of a kind: This is the only small premium Android phones on the market. With the iPhone 6 selling millions of units, it is surprising that manufacturers of Android does not offer alternatives same size. The Z3 Compact is all we get. And while it is a great phone, it's not a slam dunk for his cruel Android skin, problems with the camera, and the price.

understanding
Let's start with the basic assumptions Let. There are those of us who want to use our Android phones in one hand. If that's not you, it's okay to have more than one phone for you there. But I walk on the road a lot. I'm holding a child's hand and using Maps to find out where we are going. I'm holding a coffee and looking at my Feedly. I'm holding onto a subway pole and play the latest games Kemco. I do not think I'm the only one.

It's been understood for the past few years many people have trouble using these devices greater than about 2.8 inches without them again in their hands. That is just about the size of thumbs. I made an amateur study a few years ago with a 2.67-inch Samsung Galaxy Nexus and LG followed up when it launched the LG G2 by saying it has made a larger study. That's why the 2.57-inch-wide 2015 Moto X has become a cult device for a specific group of one-handed phone lovers.

There are smaller phones out there, but they are generally reduced in power as well as size. The HTC One Mini 2 has slowish Qualcomm Snapdragon processor 400. The Samsung Galaxy Alpha has a cut-down camera. Much of that going around.

So now we have the 4.5-ounce Z3 Compact, with 5.01 inches high, 0.34 inches thick, and most importantly 2.56 inches wide, it will fit into even the smallest hands. Qualcomm Snapdragon 2.5GHz and 801 processor and 20.7-megapixel camera, this is not crippled in any way.

Physical Design and Call Quality
I love how important Nokia phone does not look like other devices. That is quite true on this one, because it is not just black and white, but almost florescent orange and aqua blue. It has a glass front and back, with a set of clear, curved plastic panels on the perimeter. Some of the doors, protecting the microSD card slot, SIM card slot, and micro USB charging port, because the phone is waterproof also when the door is closed. On the side, a power button, volume buttons, and a dedicated camera key. The left side has a magnetic docking port that works with an extra $ 49.99 charging dock.

The compact size is the big deal, though. It is slimmer and lighter than the 2015 Moto X gold standard until now for one-handed Android phones and although its harder edge and slipperier surface that do not fit as well as a concave palm, it is a very premium mood here. The 4.6-inch touch screen uses some of the technology in TV Sony to give it enhanced brightness and black levels, so punchier than the display on the Nexus 5. So far, so good.

Voice quality is fine, if not surprising. Earpiece is modest, utterly average volume. Shipping via mic sounds great, very sharp. Speakerphone is clear and usually, if not booming volumes, but there are almost no noise canceling mic, which can be distracting. Unfortunately, because it is not an offer carrier-phone, it lacks voice-over-LTE and Wi-Fi calling feature of T-Mobile, which both have rigged by the carrier.

The Z3 Compact have all the required frequency band for maximum performance in both T-Mobile and AT & T network. The only thing I have not seen the spec sheet is support for T-Mobile Banda 12, which has not been implemented, and AT & T integration of the carrier, which will accelerate the performance of the network next year. Along with a great range of LTE bands, the Compact with 802.11a / b / g / n / AC, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and NFC.

Battery life here is ideal. Thanks to the small screen, I got 7 hours, 48 minutes of non-stop video streaming 2,600mAh battery over the T-Mobile LTE network.
