Apple iPhone 6

Apple iPhone 6

Now there's a very large iPhone, an iPhone too small, and a just-right iPhone: iPhone 6 The latest greatest feature is that this iPhone is bigger, and yes, that's a big deal. Although most of the apps are not coded to take advantage of the extra real estate on the iPhone 6, which puts a new phone operating system loved gorgeous Apple and third-party content apps that look and feel cramped. That was enough to earn Choice award an iPhone 6 Editor at Verizon Wireless.

This is primarily a review of the Verizon iPhone 6, but the phone is available on all major carriers in a bewildering range of prices. For example, Verizon charged $ 199 on contract for the 16GB base model, Sprint includes a 16GB unit as part of a special $ 70 unlimited plan over two years, and no T-Mobile will charge up front , but $ 27.08 per month. Unlocked, you pay $ 649 for 16GB, $ 749 for a 64GB unit and $ 849 for 128GB.

The Measure of a iPhone
The understanding is the best size for a phone is a very delicate balance. Back in 2015, I judged the 4.65-inch Samsung Galaxy Nexus to be too big for some hands, but what I got was not that screen size is not the problem. It is the overall width of the phone, which must be narrow enough so that people with little, Stubby fingers can grip it comfortably, while people with large, hammy fingers do not mistype words. Narrow bezels which meant that we now have smaller phones with larger screens, so everyone wins.

But there is a limit anyway. When introduced the LG G2, said this comprehensive hand studies led them to believe that anything wider than 2.8 inches may not also be used with one hand, with a range of hand sizes. (Then it introduced the LG G3, which is wider than 2.8 inches. When I asked why, LG execs just threw up their hands and said "I want the people," as they had no choice in this matter.)

Passing all say that Apple has found out where the limit is for a one-handed device, and it is just teetering here. The iPhone 6 is 2.64 inches wide. In my experience and that of many other tech reviewers, the 2015 Moto X, with 2.57 inches, is the perfect one-handed phone (in fact, things have Cult). The Samsung Galaxy S5, 2.85 inches, was one just over the line. The iPhone 6 Plus, with 3.06 inches, is way past it.

That all goes to say that the iPhone 6 will be the right-sized iPhone for now. It is useful in one hand, it fits in a pocket, and gives you the maximum size of the keyboard and video playback while still feeling comfortable. Yes, sure, it would have been 0.07 inches narrower, as demonstrated by Motorola, but it is within the margin of comfort.
